This project combines nature and portraiture to explore the psychological landscape of the human mind and the imagined environment. The idea is that ashes to ashes and dust to dust, that is, that humans will eventually dissolve into dust, just like any form of vegetation. Thus an attempt is made to metaphorically describe the material relevance of humans to the earth and the psychological dependence on nature. The portraits of mood and emotion are used to express an uneasy psychological space, exploring the subtle connection between the psychological condition and the vulnerability of the natural environment.
Through a combination of microphotography and collage, the project provides a metaphor for the uncertainty that endures the anthropocentric earth. The natural elements are collected using micro-photography, to view the world from a microscopic perspective, overturning the experience of reality.
